The Week Ending April 14

So, I didn't get a whole lot done this week for SE because I was (and still am) focused on an assignment for Artificial Intelligence. But I will say what I did get done successfully. In last week's blog, I mentioned that Cooper and I were trying to get my part of the team project to pass the tests I had created. At the time I wrote the blog we had not had any luck. However, by Sunday we not only got the tests working, but I was able to add more methods and more tests to my part of the project. So as of this moment, my part (adding queries to retrieve information from the database about a particular user) is done, but I will start helping Cooper and Levi work out our current bugs. I also noted last week that I could not get the openmrs lab from last week working. I kept getting a null pointer exception, even though everything looked right and was basically the same code as Cooper's. I still have no idea what was wrong, but I just decided to rebuild the openmrs from the ground up (going back to wee 6's lab to do so) and start over. I did that and I got it working perfectly. So I got that checked off on Wednesday, and I also did the whole lab on Wednesday. That lab involved working with a framework known as Hibernate. What we did was modify a 'Book' table so it would point to an 'Author' table that we had to create. This involved adding a Java file and an xml file for the table itself. I don't remember most of the errors I got - except that for a while, maven would delete my xml file for no apparent reason. Until it was pointed out to me that I had placed it the target directory rather than the source directory. After that, it was pretty smooth sailing. Overall it's been a slow week and all I know that needs to be done is fixing the issues my team is having in our project.
