UW Oshkosh and the Oshkosh Community YMCA will proudly present the eighth annual Oshkosh Community Dragonboat Race and Festival on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Leach Amphitheater in downtown Oshkosh.

The Dragonboat Race and Festival became a part of the UW Oshkosh Fall Fest on the Fox celebration in 2006 and, ever since, has been an event the Oshkosh community looks forward to annually. Teams of 20 paddlers in 40-foot long canoe-like, dragon-adorned vessels hit the water. More than 40 teams will compete this year in another intense day of racing.

The race and festival has something for everyone, including free live family friendly entertainment on the amphitheater’s main stage. Acts include Hooked on Hooping, Elite Oshkosh Knights Cheerleaders, family-friendly comedians Miller and Mike, the Taiko Drummers and a live animal show with Zoozort. Food and beverages are also available for purchase. Other activities will be available the duration of the event, including airbrush tattoos, caricatures, paintless paintball (must be 12 or older to play), face painting, inflatables and more. All of these activities include a minimal charge.

All proceeds from the Oshkosh Community Dragonboat Race and Festival go to the Oshkosh Community Dragon Boat Scholarship, a financial-need based scholarship available to Winnebago County residents, and to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, offering membership assistance to over 2,400 youth, families and individuals annually.
