Academics: Teaching and Research

All undergraduate students in the University Studies Program complete at least one class where they consider the answers to the Signature Question: "How do people understand and create a more sustainable world?"

Students interested in taking classes with a sustainability focus or wishing to major in Environmental Studies, can see the list of resources on the How to Get Involved page.

The University's mission to support sustainability research is among the goals of the Campus Sustainability Plan.

Students have a variety of opportunities to participate in sustainability research at UW Oshkosh.

  • Sustainability research is conducted by faculty and staff within Colleges and many administrative units on campus. Many researchers invite motivated and interested students to learn about and participate in their research projects. Students are encouraged to get to know their professors and instructors and to inquire about potential relevant research opportunities.
  • Most students in the University Studies Program will have the opportunity to participate in community-based projects in Quest III classes.
  • UW Oshkosh Career Services also connects students with faculty and departments to give students professionally relevant paid employment.
