The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s Students for Music Organization will bring a couple of notable events to campus this semester.

The Cat’s Pajamas Vocal Ensemble will be on campus at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26 and Third Coast Percussion will perform at 7 p.m. March 12. Both shows will be held at the Music Hall in the Arts and Communication Center on campus.

Comprised of both music and non-music majors, Students for Music is responsible for the administration of the Chamber Arts Series, which includes both performances.

The Cat’s Pajamas

The Cat’s Pajamas is a five man acappella group that has been touring around the world since 2005 and has recently been featured on Next Great American Band, America’s Got Talent and season three of NBC’s The Sing-Off. Founded by Brian Skinner, The Cat’s Pajamas entered the national spotlight when they placed in the top 10 while performing their Oreo Cookie Jingle for Randy Jackson. The Cat’s Pajamas has raised more than $90,000 for music education programs across the country.

Katie Warren, a sophomore music and business student at UW Oshkosh, said the UW Oshkosh music-focused student organization chose the Cat’s Pajamas vocal ensemble because they will bring amazing talent to the campus.

“They are extremely dedicated on raising money and supporting music education programs across the country,” she said. “Not only will it be a great learning experience for the students, it will be very entertaining.”

She said the Students for Music are excited to welcome them to our campus during their 2016 Meow-sic in Schools tour.

“I am most excited to hear them perform and talk to them about their experiences,” Warren said.

Third Coast Percussion

Third Coast Percussion explores and expands the extraordinary sonic possibilities of the percussion repertoire through performances, teaching and the creation of new works

Warren said the Third Coast Percussion has been a group that the percussion department has wanted to bring to UW Oshkosh for a long time.

“It is amazing that we were able to make it happen and bring them to our campus,” she said. “They are a brilliant group  of musicians full of new ideas and incomparable talent.”

Warren said she hopes the public will attend to see the high musical talent and entertaining atmosphere the performers create.

“They are known worldwide and will be available to meet and talk with the audience after the performance,” she said. “It isn’t every day that you can meet groups like these. ”

Individual tickets are available for purchase at the door. $8 for adults; $5 for  seniors and non UW Oshkosh students; $3 for children 12 and younger; FREE for all UW Oshkosh students with University identification.
