August 23, 2002

To the editor:

I was in attendance at the St. Raphael Church Picnic on August 9, 2002. I stood in line with others and purchased beverage and raffle tickets. I sat at a table with members of the community and ate a fine fish dinner, then stood in line and paid for it. Friends of mine from Appleton were there and it was nice to visit with them for a time. No one seemed to mind that I wore a Jelinski T-shirt as they took my money, served the meal, or talked with me. It was a "community" event and every respect was shown by me and other members of our group to all who worked so diligently in putting on the picnic. How did that show "lack of respect to each and every member of the parish community?" Perhaps next year Gabrielle Munson you could post a list of those groups or individuals you do not want to attend the picnic. That would show real character.
