Commentary Update for August 8, 2001: Ellis, Falk, Silent Six
Dear Commentarians:
State Senator Mike Ellis participated in a lively exchange with Jim and
I today. The program will air on Thursday at 7 p.m. You can see a summary
of the program here:
http://www.uwosh.edu/faculty_staff/palmeri/schedule.htm#august8
In other news, most of you have heard that Dane County Executive Kathleen
Falk has thrown her hat into the Democratic Party primary race for governor.
I wrote a brief piece for the web site on why I think she can win the nomination:
http://www.uwosh.edu/faculty_staff/palmeri/falk.htm
The piece is not especially insightful (hey, politics is just a hobby for me),
but it does have links to other information about the primary. I was happy to
see that wispolitics.com (http://www.wispolitics.com)
has placed it on its web site. Wispolitics.com is, in my opinion, one of the
best sources available for information about state politics. Their on-line interviews
with the state's political movers and shakers are especially valuable, in my
opinion.
Next week, Mike McCabe from the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign (www.wisdc.org) will join us.
Finally, many thanks to those of you who have e-mailed and called about the "silent six" piece and follow-up (http://www.uwosh.edu/faculty_staff/palmeri/52days.htm). Unfortunately, not enough people are contacting the silent six themselves. They can be reached at: http://www.ci.oshkosh.wi.us/mail.htm
All the best,
-Tony
