University of Wisconsin Oshkosh alumnus Dave Forman ’73, shares his memories of the loss of four UWO students and professor Jacob Shapiro, who died in a car accident while on their way to an Earth Day planning meeting in 1970.

In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, Forman, an assignment manager with NBC News, Washington Bureau, wrote a “first-person” account of the tragedy for UW Oshkosh’s Engage magazine.

Forman was a friend of one of the victims in the accident, fellow freshman Jim Weil.
