The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) recently was honored as among the best in the nation in the Bateman National Case Study competition.
The UW Oshkosh chapter was awarded an Honorable Mention, ranking it among the top 18 nationally. UW Oshkosh was the smallest public university to place this year, the third time the campus’s PRSSA chapter has placed since 2000.
The 2008 Bateman Competition challenged student groups to develop a public relations campaign that would encourage those aged 11-14 to use their seat belts. The case study was sponsored by General Motors and Safe Kids Worldwide.
At the conclusion of its campaign, using the theme “One small click, one giant LEAP 4 SAFETY,” the UW Oshkosh team held a safety fair at the Boys and Girls Club.
Other participants included Affinity Health Systems, the Oshkosh Police Department, UW Oshkosh football players and Wisconsin Public Service. The theme combined the fact that the event was held on Leap Day with the familiar Lambeau Leap.
