Nineteen University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students representing the northern Midwest competed June 8-9 at the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) in Atlanta.

Teams were required to create an integrated marketing plan for AOL Instant Messenger and its suite of social media products.

The students, who represented both the College of Business and the College of Letters and Science, took 11th place at the national contest. Ohio University won first place.

The UW Oshkosh team had won first place at the district-level competition April 19 in St. Paul, Minn., qualifying them for the national competition.

“I feel so proud of the team. We competed with some heavy-hitting universities with large programs,” said Kathy Fredrickson, the team’s co-adviser and UW Oshkosh journalism instructor.
