University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA) will sponsor the Nearly Naked Mile, a fun run/walk designed to gather coat and clothing donations for area charities, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29.
Participants will be encouraged to wear sweatshirts, coats, pants or other clothing items they intend to donate. A large box at the starting line will collect donated clothing that runners will leave before beginning the race. Then runners will finish the one-mile course in shorts and a t-shirt, or other appropriate “nearly naked” attire.
The race, which begins and ends at Pollock Alumni House, is free and open to the public. Prizes will be awarded to the top competitors and best-dressed runners. A limited number of t-shirts will be given to participants who donate clothing.
“You may be as creative as you like, but just remember that this is the Nearly Naked Mile, not the naked mile,” said SAA president Sarah Schettle, a senior pre-med major and an athlete in track, cross country and swimming.
Hot chocolate will be provided after the race. For more information or to register, e-mail saa@uwosh.edu.
