Held during National Nurses’ Week and in honor of the May 12 birthday of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Nursing and its Board of Visitors will recognize the nursing profession and its most outstanding nurses at the 16th-annual Nightingale Awards Dinner at 6:30 p.m. May 8 in Reeve Memorial Union, 748 Algoma Blvd.
Of the 27 nominees, nine nurses will be awarded the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing Practice and receive a cash award of $1,000 and an original piece of artwork representing the spirit of Florence Nightingale. The commemorative art piece, commissioned by Affinity Health Systems, will be engraved with the winner’s name.
The dinner also will include a Nightingale Silent Auction for Nursing Scholarships – featuring a Brett Favre autographed football. All proceeds from this auction will be committed to fund scholarships for student nurses.
