The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s College of Nursing (CON) and Board of Visitors will recognize outstanding nurses and celebrate nursing excellence at the 19th-annual Nightingale Awards Dinner at Reeve Memorial Ballroom May 4.
The purpose of the evening is to honor registered nurses and licensed practical nurses involved in direct patient care who exemplify the highest standards of nursing practice. The dinner also provides a special night for roughly 240 people by creating a very moving atmosphere as the award recipients speak about their daily contributions to the nursing profession.
CON and the Board of Visitors are currently accepting Nightingale nominations until Feb. 25, which can be submitted by coworkers, supervisors or patients. Although nominees do not need to be an alumnus to be nominated, some of CON’s 5,000-plus alumni might like to nominate a coworker or a nurse that cared for them.
After the nomination deadline, the Board of Visitors will select the award recipients and present them with the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing Practice at the annual dinner. The award entails $1,000 and a piece of artwork provided by health care agencies and private donors.
Complete nomination details and photo galleries are on the College of Nursing’s website: http://www.uwosh.edu/con/nightingale.
