Jim Dykstra, ’68, and Jim VandeHei, ’95, will host an alumni reception April 29 in Washington, D.C. The event will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the National Press Club, 529 14th St. NW.

Alumni and friends of UW Oshkosh will enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and UW Oshkosh giveaways. A cash bar will be available.

Dykstra is principal at Edington, Peel & Associates, Inc. He has more than three decades of experience in senior positions on Capitol Hill, in the Executive Branch, and in the private sector. He has served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for Legislative Affairs under Secretary Dick Cheney, Republican staff director of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, chief of staff and legislative director to Rep. Steve Horn (R-CA), legislative assistant to Sen. Bill Cohen (R-ME), and press secretary and legislative assistant to Rep. Bill Steiger (R-WI).

VandeHei is a political reporter and co-founder of The Politico. Previously, he was a national political reporter at the Washington Post, where he worked as White House correspondent. VandeHei was the first to report in 1998 that Republicans were formally planning to impeach President Clinton.
