Currently Residing: Neenah, WI

Career program/major: Pharmacy

What is your career or life goal?

My ultimate career goal is to become a pharmacist, but my life goal is to never get too busy to find time for family and friends. Over the last year and a half, I’ve been busier than I ever wanted or imagined, and I just don’t want that to ever be how my life is all of the time.

What led you to choose your program or major?

I’ve always wanted to enter the healthcare field, but I wasn’t sure in what aspect until I took chemistry in high school. I found it really interesting, and when I put it together with healthcare I found pharmacy was the best fit for me.

Why did you decide to become a University of Wisconsin student at UWFox?

UWFox was close to home, and it allowed me to work while taking classes as well. I also was drawn to the fact that it’s a smaller school, so as a student it’s more personal and easier to get help.

Is there a UWFox professor or staff member who made a difference in your life or inspired you?

Professor Rukamp has made a difference in my time at UWFox not only because he nominated me for this, and it’s a good feeling to hear that someone notices the hard work I’m putting in, but also because he cares a lot about his students and making sure they are able to succeed.

What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming UWFox student?

Find people to do homework/study with. I have never done better in a class than when I find someone taking the same class to do the work with. It helps tremendously to have someone to bounce ideas off of.

Describe something unexpected that happened here at UWFox.

Honestly, the most unexpected thing that has happened to me here has been getting nominated for this interview. Due to my work schedule, I’m not able to be at the school much beyond class.

When not in class or studying, what keeps you busy?

Working at Walmart in the pharmacy and spending time with my family.

What are your plans after UWFox?

I plan to transfer somewhere to earn my degree in Pharmacy. I haven’t decided which school yet, but I’m leaning toward Concordia University.
