Open to all area high school students

The University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac is hosting a financial aid information night, 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5 in the LGI Room (UC-113/114).

This event is open to all area students and their families planning to attend any college. Jill Bangart, student affairs coordinator at UW-Fond du Lac, will present information on the types of financial aid available, the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion process and common mistakes made in completing the FAFSA. She will also answer questions students or their families may have. Bangart has several years of experience working with prospective and current students in her previous position in the UW Colleges financial aid office.

“People often think they aren’t eligible for financial aid,” said Bangart. “There are many types of aid and almost everyone is eligible for some assistance with paying for college costs. It may not be a grant, but loans are also available.”

Bangart also reminds families that filling out a FAFSA form is free. “You should never be assessed a fee to complete a FAFSA form online or to search for scholarships. There are sites that do charge a fee and families should be sure they are using the correct website for the FAFSA form –”

UW-Fond du Lac is one of the 13 UW Colleges across the state of Wisconsin and awards the Associate of Arts and Science Degree and several bachelor’s degree completion programs. For more information about applying to UW-Fond du Lac call (920) 929-1122.
