The following Class Notes were received recently in the UW Oshkosh Alumni Office.

’56 Captain William King (BS), of Chester, Virginia, has six great-grandchildren and sings in a barbershop choir.

’66 Roger Korinek (BS), of Fond du Lac, retired from teaching at St. Mary’s Springs Academy after 45 years. He organizes educational tours to Washington, D.C.

’66 Gary Laabs (BS), of Hanover, Pennsylvania, recently got his bachelor’s of science in nursing from Western Governors University. He works as a hospital clinical staff nurse at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover. Nursing is his third career, following distinguished military and human resource careers.  He and his wife of more than 48 years have four grown children.

’67 James O’Laughlin (BBA), of Omaha, Nebraska, has eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.   

’69 Norbert Hill (BS), and ’71 (MSE), of Oneida, coauthored a 2017 anthology titled The Great Vanishing Act: Blood Quantum and the Future of Native Nations. The book, which focuses on the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, cites many authors and different types of literature from around the world. 

’75 Keith LaGraves (BS), of Wakefield, Massachusetts, retired from Russell, Brier & Co., a certified public accounting firm in Boston where he was a partner for 20 years.

’75 Patrick Pazdernik (BS), ’76 (BS) and ’81 (MS), of Jamestown, North Carolina, retired from Kimberly-Clark, after 28 years as director of global business development. He recently accepted a position with High Point University as an adjunct marketing instructor.

’78 Dwight Stefan (BA), of Hartford, worked as a substitute teacher for nine years, a daycare teacher, census worker, appliance repairman, auto mechanic and concrete construction worker.

’79 Daniel Radley (BME) and ’84 (MA), of Waupaca, retired in 2011 as band director and coach from the Prairie Farm School District. Radley moved to Waupaca where he plays tuba and conducts with the Wild Rose Community Band. He also ia a referee for middle school and high school sports in the Waupaca area.

’79 Charles Tank (BS), and ’84 (MA), of Dodgeville, released his third book, Letters to Lydia: Words of Advice from a Grandfather to his Grandchildren, inspired by his 18-month-old granddaughter, Lydia Alleman.    

’81 Karie (Eggebeen) Green (BME), of Green Bay, the artistic director for the Green Bay Girl Choir for the past 10 years,  has been part of the organization for 25 years.

’83 Barbara (Schmitz) Benish (BS), and ’92 (MBA), of Oshkosh, writes, edits and graphic designs for a variety of publications, including EAA AirVenture Today, Wild Ones Journal, Wisconsin Woodlands, Wisconsin Game Warden and Career Education Review.

’87 Lauren Polenske (BS), of Chicago, Illinois, celebrated 25 years as the artistic director for The Hale Theatre Company in Chicago. Her recent directing projects include Into the Woods, Smokey Joe’s Café and Les Miserables.  Polenske’s sons, Sean and Daniel Murphy, are both Eagle Scouts. In June, she will celebrate 23 years of marriage to Michael Murphy.

’88 Mark Bohn (BS), of Omro, has been a social studies teacher for 25 years at Omro High School. He also served for more than a decade in the military.

’88 Pat Delcore (BS), of Sturgeon Bay, retired after 15 years as the Southern Door High School softball coach. His teams earned two state tournament appearances, seven regional titles and multiple Packerland Conference championships.

’89 Mohd Yaziz Bin Mohn Isa (MBA), of Batu Caves, Malaysia, was conference manager at the 2017 Global Waqf Conference. Waqf is an Islamic endowment for wealth re-distribution with philanthropic objectives and acts of charity. He also managed the 2016 conference in Wales and the 2015 conference in Moscow.

’90 Mark Matzke (BS), of De Pere, was promoted to president of Humana. Matzke joined Humana in 1995 and has more than 25 years of healthcare insurance experience

’92 Melissa Anderson (BSE), and ’95 (MSE), of Clintonville, a teacher in the New London School District, recently received National Board Certification in the area of middle/generalist for ages seven to twelve.

’94 Mike Burman (BS), of Appleton, the owner of Focal Point Photography, primarily shoots interiors and architecture. 

’94 Mark Klossner (BS), of Iron Mountain, Michigan, is vice president of marketing for BOSS Snowplow, a manufacturer of snow and ice control equipment.

’95 Laura (Pueschner) Baehnman (BSN), of Weyauwega, is a nurse at ThedaCare Physicians-Wautoma.

’98 Jason Radtke (BBA), of New London, is the new owner of Summit Accounting & Tax, previously known as Smith & Radtke Accounting.

’99 Christine Feder (BSN), of Wisconsin Rapids, is a family nurse practitioner at Aspirus Riverview Clinics in Wisconsin Rapids and the Town of Rome.

’00 Jamie (Smith) Ceman (BBA), of Irvine, California, who recently resigned as assistant chancellor of University Marketing and Communications at UWO, is vice president of strategic marketing and communications at Chapman University in Orange, California.

’02 Mathew Schreiber (BS), of Lake Mills, is city director of planning and development.

’02 Kristin (Steckmesser) Stanley (BBA), of Onalaska, will be inducted in April into the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2018. She played basketball at UW Oshkosh and volleyball, basketball and softball at Two Rivers High School.

’04 Karen Carley (BSN), of Omro, is the health and nursing services director for the Omro School District.

’04 Curt Naegeli (BS), of Coleman, is the owner of North Woods Distillery, a rum producer.

’04 Justin Schneider (BBA), of Sheboygan Falls, was named a shareholder of Schenck SC, a full-service regional accounting and consulting firm. Schneider is a member of the firm’s manufacturing and distribution team and small and emerging business service line. He also is a retired member of the Air National Guard.

’06 Jennifer Rabas (BS), of Madison, graduated with a doctorate of education degree from the University of Missouri. She is an Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Program coordinator at the University of Wisconsin.

’06 Jesse Wiltzius (BSE), of Green Bay, is in his 12th year of teaching eighth-grade social studies at Bay View Middle School. Wiltzius also coaches high school baseball and middle school basketball and volleyball. He has a one-year-old son, Jaxon.

’07 Alisha (Lowman) Lowden-Sarauer (BSN), of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, is a board-certified nurse practitioner for the gastroenterology clinic at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

’10 Kylie (McGowan) Harwell (BS), of Oshkosh, is communications coordinator for the Appleton Area School District. In June, she married Tanner Harwell at Chattooga Belle Farm in South Carolina.

’10 Emily (Krug) Heideman (BA), of Fond du Lac, is the assistant director and information technology coordinator at the Waupaca Area Public Library. Heideman worked as a teen librarian for more than four years.

’12 Jessica Bedore (BA), of De Pere, manages public relations for Ariens Company’s whole goods business. She owns and operates Jessica Bedore Photography, a fine art photography studio focused on destination weddings.

’12 Gerald Chatman (BS), of Nashville, Tennessee, is the outside linebackers coach at Tennessee State University. His coaching experience includes UWO, Ball State University, Butler University, the Green Bay Packers, Texas A&M University, Elon University and the Denver Broncos.

’12 Elisa Derickson (BA), of Madison, and her husband, Daniel Krueger, have fostered 10 children between the ages of six months and 8 years since 2015.

’13 Trevor Uitenbroek (BA), of Kaukauna, is producer and editor for Action 2 News This Morning. Uitenbroek’s main role is putting together all of the on-air videos.

’14 Bryan Grulkowski (BA), of Alexandria, Virginia, graduated from law school and passed the Washington D.C. bar exam. Grulkowski is a justice adviser for the Department of State.

’14 Darren Steger (BBA), of Winter Garden, Florida, is a financial reporting analyst for Walt Disney Vacation Club.  He earned his Certified Public Accountant certification in 2017.

’16 Brenna McDermot (BA), of Fond du Lac, is an English and English as a Second Language candidate at UW-Madison, working towards a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction.

’16 Juliann Stanis (BSN), of Portland, Oregon, achieved the National Certification Corporation credential of Maternal Newborn Nurse. NCC is a not-for-profit organization that sponsors a national certification program in the obstetric, gynecologic and neonatal specialties. 

’17 Brock Saniter (BSE), of Thorp, teaches seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade social studies in the Thorp School District.

’17 Sarah Smith (BS), of Shawano, is a licensed athletic trainer with ThedaCare Orthopedic Care, where she helps student-athletes properly care for their bodies.

’17 April Stern (BS), of Kewaskum, is enrolled at Carroll University, finishing her last semester of her didactic year.  She will graduate with a master’s degree in physician assistant studies in May 2019.
