University of Wisconsin Oshkosh senior Tre Blohm traveled to Ukraine this summer to collect ancient bones from a dark, cramped cave.
Blohm and the rest of his team split up the many jobs involved in their work.
“We kind of all take turns doing shifts of digging and recording and note-taking and hauling buckets,” Blohm said.
After cleaning the samples, Blohm took them back to UW Oshkosh for testing. He hopes that his findings fuel future research in anthropology, biology, and epidemiology.
“I just hope it brings up more questions,” Blohm said, “because that’s what you need in research—more questions to be answered.”
