University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Interim Provost John Koker announced Judith Westphal as the interim dean of the College of Nursing (CON) through June 30, 2019.

Westphal officially began the interim role June 1. Koker’s announcement extends the time frame by one additional year.

“​In the short time I have worked with her, I find ​Dr. Westphal to be a dedicated leader,” Koker said. “She brings immense experience to the role gained through her time as a healthcare executive, faculty member, and, most recently, her role as associate professor, post-licensure programs director and assistant dean of the College of Nursing.”

Westphal began teaching at UW Oshkosh in 2008. Prior to her time at the University, she began her career as a nurse at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh and worked in various progressive management roles. She held executive/administrative roles for Affinity Health System through 2006.

Westphal earned a doctorate in nursing from UW-Madison in 2008, a master’s degree in nursing from UW Oshkosh in 1990.

“The College of Nursing faculty and staff provide exceptional educational opportunities for students at undergraduate and graduate levels,” Westphal said. “I am excited to work with College of Nursing faculty, staff and students to provide and promote nursing education.”
