Tracie Schlaak, College of Nursing Accelerated Option program assistant, in the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Nursing, has been named the recipient of the October 2017 STAR Award.
She was nominated by Laura Smolinski, assistant clinical professor for the College of Nursing.
Schlaak’s nomination follows:
“Tracie Schlaak is more than deserving of this award! When she first started, she took on the very difficult task of correcting, sorting, reorganizing and managing the data for rolling admissions and simultaneous cohorts of the Accelerated Nursing Program.
“Tracie is incredibly organized, coordinating five overlapping cohorts of Accel students. The Accel program is fast-paced, with numerous moving parts. She created spreadsheets, streamlined the admission process (resulting in decreasing the time faculty spends on this paperwork by 50 percent), reconstructed the CON website, set up three orientations, three boot camps, and three advanced concepts weeks (the residencies when students come to campus) per year, and she orchestrated everything beautifully. She is extremely detail-oriented, and is able to arrange students and faculty, so everything is executed perfectly. She monitors student files to ensure that we are meeting agencies regulations and communicates professionally. Watching Tracie work is like watching a master juggle lots of things in the air, and she never drops anything!
“Tracie is phenomenal at multitasking along with numerous community support outside of work lending her sewing talent and so much more! She inspires youth and adults alike. We are very fortunate to have her on the Accel team and a part of the College of Nursing.”
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
