The Division of Student Affairs and Student Recreation will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday on the Intramural Recreational Field Complex (or Rec Plex)–a recreational complex with multi-use synthetic turf, support building and seasonal dome.
The groundbreaking will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 14, at the field adjacent to Gruenhagen Conference Center.
“The Rec Plex will allow our students to participate in outdoor activities year round in a safe and secure facility located on campus,” said Nathan Scott, director student recreation at UW Oshkosh.
Scott said the Rec Plex will help the University expand program offerings to meet the demands of students. Once complete, the Rec Plex will be used for informal recreational activities, sports club practices and competitions, intramural sports and practices for athletic teams.
Rec Plex construction will continue throughout the fall and is anticipated to be complete for the spring of 2018.
Student Recreation is committed to helping the university community make positive, lasting changes in their lives through healthy, balanced recreational pursuits. UW Oshkosh facilities offer state-of-the-art gym equipment, programs and services to help students achieve their goals.
