The following Class Notes were received recently in the UW Oshkosh Alumni Office.

’46 Lois (Lentz) Haskamp (BA), of Oshkosh, has traveled to all seven continents with her husband, Jack.

’53 Roger Bauernfeind (BS), of Abilene, Texas, retired at age 80 after working as a science teacher and principal at three junior high schools and a high school before becoming an educational evaluator.

’53 Richard Smith (BS), of Bradenton, Florida, published “Once Upon A Christmas.”  The book tells 11 tales drawn from his own life experiences growing up in small-town Wisconsin, working as a high school teacher and college professor, and eventually retiring to Florida.

’69 John Matravers (BBA), of Oconto, sold his hardware, television and appliance, power center and furniture businesses and six properties in downtown Oconto and is moving toward retirement.

’70 Orphie (Jeske) Hamilton (BS), of Neenah, retired from substitute teaching for the Neenah School District.  She is now a volunteer in the Rally Round Reading program.

’70 Carol Klitzke (BA), of Maple Grove, Minnesota, retired after a 42-year career in speech pathology, providing specialty therapy services to professional voice users.

’71 Philip Aggen (BA), of Germantown, has been retired for two years and is enjoying his free time.

’71 Sue Ellyn (Moore) Boers (BA), of Ontonagon, Michigan, has retired to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

’71 Terence Feldman Davis (BS), of Palm Desert, California, is celebrating 25 years since founding Great Music Inc.  He has since received a master’s degree in grant writing and nonprofits (social entrepreneurship.)  He now writes grants and gives back by helping organizations raise funds for good causes.

’71 Jim Floryance (BS), of Milwaukee, is in his third year of retirement after a 45-year career as a sales representative in the beverage industry.

’71 Nancy Salzsieder (BA), of Oshkosh, is retired after a 30 year career as a preschool teacher and remains active in her church.

’71 Alice (Beyerl) Sturzl (BS), of Laona, is completing 31 years as Forest County library president. She retired from the public library system in 2011 but continues to serve as a substitute librarian at the Edith Evans Community Library.

’72 Barbara Rasmussen (BS), of Sturtevant, retired after teaching 22 years at the Racine Correctional Institution.

’73 Dave Forman (BS), of Rockville, Maryland, marked 20 years at NBC News in Washington, D.C., and recently finished working on the presidential election as part of the NBC News Political Unit.

’76 Donald Dorn (BBA), of Verona, retired in 2011, but is working part time as a consultant for CGC Inc.

’78 Cynthia Johnson (MS), of Bailey’s Harbor, published two books of poetry: “A Theophany, Please” in 1995 and “The Way Crows Really Fly” in 2004. She recently did a poetry reading in Door County.

’79 Kim Berghs (BS), of North Fort Myers, Florida, is employed as the volunteer center manager at United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee counties.

’79 Leanne Buttke (BBA), of West Allis, celebrated her 35 year with Sattell, Johnson, Appel and Co., S.C.  In January, she became president of the Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce.

’79 Lynne (Gawinski) Tennie (BAE/BS) and ’79 John Tennie (BBA), of Green Bay, met at UWO and all of their children have attended UW Oshkosh as well.

’81 Alan Schlies (BS), of Green Bay, retired from teaching in June 2015 and will be inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in March.

’81 Paul Spiegel (MS), of Oshkosh, is the retired director of public health for the City of Oshkosh.

’82 Jennifer (Trewyn) Hartlaub (BSN), of Shorewood, was recently appointed director of advanced practice at Aurora Health Care.  She also is a nurse practitioner at Aurora Sinai Family Care Center.

’85 Tina (Kempf) Bettin (BS), (’89 MSN), of Marion, was elected as a Wisconsin state representative to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

’85 William Hatch (BBA), of Eden, celebrated 40 years of business with Smith and Hatch Insurance of Kewaskum and Eden.

’85 Karen (Holmseth) Livingood (BS), of Oshkosh, taught art to home schooled children.

’86 Rosemary (Hocutt) DesIsles (BS), of Sturgeon Bay, retired but continues to be a substitute teacher’s aide and teaches art to home schooled children.

’88 Ann Marie Luker (BS), of Oshkosh, is retired from teaching third grade, but she continues to substitute teach at age 82.

’89 Jill (Fuhrmann) Preissner (BS), of Kiel, has joined Premier Properties Realty as a sales executive.

’90 Dorothy Erdmann (MSN), of Marinette, retired as president and CEO of ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano.

’92 Melissa (Kriewaldt) Anderson (BSE), ’95 (MSE), of Clintonville, has been teaching for the New London School District for more than 20 years.  She is working to become a national board certified teacher.

’94 Karla Huston (BSE), ’03 (MA), of Appleton, will serve as the state’s poet laureate for 2017-2018. Huston is the author of eight chapbooks of poems and a full collection of poems titled “A Theory of Lipstick.”  This collection won the Pushcart Prize in 2011 and also earned her an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Library Association.

’94 Carrie (Leibham) Riley (MSN), of Appleton, has been named director of transitions of care for ThedaCare Regional Medical Center.

’97 Holly (Mainz) Andrews (BSE), of Fort Atkinson, was named Rotary Educator of the Month for November 2016.  She teaches fifth grade at Barrie Elementary School in Fort Atkinson and has been with the district for 17 years.

’97 Tami Moffat-Keenlance (BSN), of Ripon, has been named administrator at Ripon Hospital.

’98 Carol Kaufmann (BA), of Oshkosh, is starting a new business, Carol’s Country Tours.  She has been planning trips as a volunteer through the Oshkosh Senior Center for almost 10 years.

’00 Charles Butler (BBA), of Appleton, has been named director of boys basketball for the Wisconsin Blaze, a Christian-based Amateur Athletic Union basketball organization.

’01 Joy (Mikolajczak) Duce (BBA), of Naperville, Illinois, has been promoted to partner by the professional services firm, Sikich LLP.  She will lead the firm’s human resources and consulting practice.

’01 Ryan Valentine (BBA), of Neenah, has been promoted to president and chief financial officer by Fiduciary Partners, Inc.

’02 Joanna (Straub) Bannon (BS), of Port Washington, has been named principal of Dunwiddie Elementary School.

’04 Susan VanEngen (BSE), of Deland, Florida, was named 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year at Manatee Cove Elementary School in Orange City, Florida.

’06 Shaheda Govani (BS), of Oshkosh, was one of just three Wisconsin dentists to be inducted into the American College of Dentists in 2016.

’10 Amanda Treinen (BSW), of Madison, is a medical social worker at UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital.

’11 Darlene Herrmann (BBA), of Madison, has been hired by Van Holten’s of Waterloo as Midwest regional sales manager.

’12 Will Brydon (BSE), of Oshkosh, has been awarded the 2016 Thirty-Under-Thirty award for up-and-coming volleyball coaching talent by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.  He is the Winneconne High School varsity head volleyball coach.

’14 McKenzie Kelly (BSE), of New Richmond, is an elementary teacher and assistant varsity cross-country coach for New Richmond High School.

’14 Chad Leviner (BS), of Mukwonago, has been named head wrestling coach for the Adams-Friendship Green Devils.  He also is a substitute teacher in the district.

’15 Matt Onstad (BM), of Madison, has been appointed primary trumpet in the Quad City Symphony Orchestra.  He will be featured in the Boehm Trumpet Concerto.

’15 Sharayah Preman (MS), of Neenah, has been named clinical research monitor and human protections administrator for Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology.
