University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students are encouraged to submit one-act original play entries for the 19th Annual Student Playwriting Competition.

One-act play entries must be 18- to 30-pages, submitted in play script format. All UW Oshkosh students are eligible to enter.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, March 31, 2017, to the office of the Fredric March Theatre. Only hard copies will be accepted.

Winner(s) will receive a cash prize, a public reading of the play and a framed poster. Public reading of all winning entries will take place Wednesday, April 12, 2017.

Three student playwrights were selected as winners of the 18th Annual Student Playwriting Contest: Connor Dziedzic of Lake-in-the-Woods, Ill., Amanda Cartwright of Wild Rose, and Megan Lemire of Mount Horeb.

“Each of the plays attempts to reckon honestly with very real problems of living and dying,” said Richard Kalinoski, UW Oshkosh theatre professor and director, who noted the three winners were “outstanding entries” and each was awarded a prize in last year’s competition.

More information about the contest is available by visiting uwosh.edu/go/playwriting or by contacting Kalinoski at kalinosk@uwosh.edu.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
