Sherry Boushele Walter, who works at the Gruenhagen Conference Center for the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, has been named the recipient of the October STAR Award.

She was nominated by Marc Nylen, Director of the Gruenhagen Conference Center.

Portions of Boushele Walter’s nominations follow:

“Sherry Boushele Walter has provided exceptional service to all students, staff and other conference center guests who use the broad array of resources provided within GCC on the UW Oshkosh campus. Sherry has demonstrated exceptional customer service and great skill in the management and administration of the contract relationship we have with Fox Valley Technical

“College. GCC presently provides lodging to 84 FVTC students who are studying at the FVTC Riverside, Spanbauer and Appleton Main Campuses. In her role, Sherry has been responsible for assisting with the marketing, recruitment, orientation and overall student service provided to these 84 students. She has demonstrated an outstanding level of service and care, concern and follow-through that has truly impacted our students and their family members. I have received many e-mails, phone calls, and in-person comments about Sherry’s performance from students and their family members. These comments demonstrate the true impact she has had on their lives.

“Sherry has demonstrated a dedication, commitment and follow-through that show how much she cares and what she is willing to contribute. As an alumnus of UW Oshkosh herself, Sherry is very proud of UW Oshkosh and the many resources we have to offer to UW Oshkosh, FVTC students and our faculty and staff. As GCC exists to serve the needs of these populations, Sherry’s pride in UW Oshkosh, Residence Life and GCC are a significant contributor to her positional success. We are very blessed to have Sherry as a member of our GCC staff team.

“Additionally, Sherry serves as a main supervisor for the EAA AirVenture Lodging Program which is managed through conference services in GCC. She was responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training and evaluation of 35 desk staff members during the summer of 2014. This was the highest performing desk staff team we have had in our history. This success was the direct result of Sherry’s commitment, dedication, enthusiasm, passion and pride.”

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
