The following Class Notes were received recently in the UW Oshkosh Alumni Office.

’62 Leon Klatt (LS), of Oak Ridge, Tenn., received the 2013 Department of Energy Secretary’s Award for Savannah River Site cleanup research and development as a member of Salt Waste Disposal Team in April.

’65 David Simon (LS), of Bartlesville, Okla., is one of the invited speakers at the 19th Norwegian X-ray Conference in September. He will be presenting his lifelong work with materials science using x-ray spectroscopy for evaluation of materials.

’68 Margaret Jones (EHS), of Iola, was inducted into the Oconto Falls Wall of Fame in June. She and her husband own Jones Publishing Inc.

’71 William Breitzman (EHS), of Campbellsport, plays the tuba with the Senior Center Adult Musical Performers known as S.C.A.M.P in Fond du Lac.

’77 James Olsen (LS), of Springfield, Ore., has released a new CD of original jazz compositions and arrangements called We See Stars with Origin/OA2 Records.

’78 Jeffrey Dobrzynski (LS), of Slinger, retired in 2012 from environmental consulting after 32 years.

’79 Joseph Johnson (EHS), of San Diego, Calif., has been named dean of the College of Education at San Diego State University. He also serves as executive director of the National Center for Urban School Transformation.

’85 Joy Smith (LS), of Lakeland, Fla., published a new novel titled, Strike Three, in June.

’89 Janet Uhlman (EHS), of West Bend, has retired from the Kewaskum School District after 24 years of service.

’91 Dan Venezia (LS), of Rhinelander, married Kathryn (Casey) Venezia at Nativity South Catholic Church in Rhinelander last November.

’92 Tim Vermeulen (B), of Gurnee, Ill., has accepted a new role with Integrity Insurance as the new personal lines product manager.

’97 Paula Hella (EHS) and ’05 (MSE), of Appleton, will be co-presenting “Engagement with Vulnerable Populations: Poverty, Hunger and Food Insecurity” at the 2014 Obesity Conference held at Green Bay.

’98 Georgia (Belling) Lyon (LS), of McFarland, joined Charter Media’s Madison team as creative services account executive.

’00 Joe Rux (EHS), of Manitowoc, will be leaving after 16 years of service in education. His final season will be 2014-15, as both basketball coach and social studies teacher at Roncalli High school.

’08 Todd Richardson (EHS), of Appleton, is in his seventh year of teaching ceramics, sculpture and visual arts at Bay Port High School in Green Bay.

’10 Alexander Augustine-Marceil (LS), of Arlington,Va., was selected to join the U.S. Department of State as a foreign service officer. He will be posted to the U.S. Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela, as a political officer.

’11 Thomas Hanaway (LS), of Greenleaf, is a web editor/social media manager for the Japan Times.

’14 Cory DeRuiter (B), of Oshkosh, is the founder of Billboard Brew, which promotes local businesses and community growth by giving away beverage cups and sleeves to local businesses. The sleeves contain marketing messages from local advertisers.
