On Saturday, March 22, Lighted School House (LSH), a grant-funded after school program at Washington, Emmeline Cook and Webster Stanley Elementary in Oshkosh, will be hosting a benefit hockey game at the YMCA on 20th Avenue from 4:30–6:30 p.m.
Featuring the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Hockey Club versus the New Moon Cafè hockey team, game proceeds will help support the LSH program, which serves any student in need of a safe and fun place to go after school and offers a range of enrichment activities that complement their regular academic classes.
LSH relies heavily on community partners and volunteers, with UW Oshkosh being one of the largest collaborators. Students, faculty and staff from Athletics, Math and Art Departments, the College of Education and Human Services and the College of Nursing have or are currently working with the program as volunteers or interns.
Game tickets are $2 per person or $5 per family, and include free open skate time (including skate rental) from 3:30–4:30 p.m. Raffle tickets will also be able for sale, with prizes including Zamboni rides, Green Bay Gambler tickets, Timber Rattler tickets and more.
Tickets are available at the door or by contacting Webster Stanley Elementary at (920) 424-0460 ext. 3546, Washington Elementary (920) 424-0190, ext. 5520 or Emmeline Cook Elementary (920) 424-0152, ext. 6508.
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
