The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s new “front door,” the Alumni Welcome and Conference Center, is set to open to the public on April 1.

Reservations are now being accepted for alumni, community and corporate events, meetings and conferences to be held in the 22,000-square-foot facility April 1 and beyond.

The Alumni Welcome and Conference Center (AWCC), located at 625 Pearl Ave on the UWO campus, will house three University departments—the Alumni Relations Office, the Business Success Center and the UWO Foundation.

“The Welcome Center will serve as a campus hub of information, where community members can easily access campus and be connected to UW Oshkosh resources through our campus concierge,” said AWCC Director Laura Rommelfanger.

“We will help fill the need for temporary classroom space during the Clow renovation project by using two of our state-of-the-art meeting rooms as classroom spaces. We will work collaboratively with Reeve Memorial Union and Gruenhagen Conference Center, offering more than 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space to help departments and students locate and secure the best fit for their campus events.”

AWCC also will serve as a home away from home for UW Oshkosh’s 83,000-plus alumni. The contemporary, high-quality conference facility offers a 500-person ballroom with picturesque, floor-to-ceiling windows, a 38-person executive board room with state-of-the art technology, an outside patio with gas fire pit, onsite catering, hearing loop technology, free wireless internet and ample free parking among other amenities.

Plans are underway to celebrate the AWCC’s Grand Opening on Friday, May 16.

“I also am excited to introduce the campus community to the new building via a UWO Social event and tour at 3 p.m. on Feb. 28 and a series of open houses to be scheduled in April,” Rommelfanger said. “In addition, I’d like to invite interested campus departments and organizations to contact me to schedule personal tours.”
