On Jan. 20, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh campus community and broader community will again come together for a celebration and commemoration honoring the life, service and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

UW Oshkosh will host the 19th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration on Monday, Jan. 20 at 5 p.m. in Reeve Memorial Union Ballroom.

The Celebration will feature a tribute by Associate Pastor Jason Turner from Christian Faith Fellowship Church in Milwaukee followed by a special vocal performance.

“The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and the broader community are gifted annually with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration, a historic recognition of a great man and American symbol who came to define racial justice in America,” said Byron Adams, Multicultural Retention Counselor for UW Oshkosh’s Center for Academic Support and Diversity.

“By honoring the legacy of Dr. King, we are honoring all those that fought racial discrimination and segregation in the 1950s and 1960s,” Adams said. “We are as well recognizing the incredible impact that continues to this day of Dr. King’s efforts and millions of others in combating the injustice and heartache of racism in its most blatant and subtlest forms.”
