On Oct. 1, WRST-FM at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh will be joining hundreds of other college radio stations around the world in marking the third annual World College Radio Day.

Organizers say the aim of World College Radio Day is to raise greater international awareness of college and high school radio stations by encouraging people who would not normally listen to these stations to do so on this day, in the hope that some who do will like what they hear and become regular listeners.

This year over 600 stations from the U.S. and 38 other countries are participants.  WRST is one of nine stations in Wisconsin taking part in the celebration.

The event began in 2011 as College Radio Day and added the word “world” to its title after the 2012 celebration, when stations from dozens of countries joined the effort.

WRST can be heard in the Oshkosh area at 90.3 on the FM dial and worldwide at www.wrst.org.
