Two University of Wisconsin Oshkosh faculty members have been appointed 2010-2011 Wisconsin Teaching Fellows.

Tracy Slagter, assistant professor of political science, and Paul Van Auken, assistant professor of sociology, will serve as mentors and leaders for the UW Oshkosh campus and the UW System. From June 14-17, the pair will participate in a conference that involves undertaking an exceptional scholarly teaching project aimed at enhancing student learning.

“I am very honored to be participating in the Wisconsin Teaching Fellows program, which has already proven to be providing outstanding professional development for my teaching and for doing research about how well students are actually learning in my classes,” Van Auken said.

Each UW System university may chose up to two participants for the fellowship each year. The program promotes teamwork and leadership throughout the UW System. Fellows serve for one year but are eligible for an appointment as a Wisconsin Teaching Scholar after their fellowship.
