The following Class Notes were received recently in the UW Oshkosh Alumni Office.

69 Arthur Moen (LS) and ’74 (MA) is the technology librarian at Morton Community College in Cicero, Ill. He was appointed to the campuswide Virtual Database Committee in April.

’71 Janice (Meyer) Thompson (LS) is a professor of piano at Arizona State University, where she has served since 1977. She does studio teaching, directs the piano pedagogy graduate degree programs and administers the Piano Prep/Conservatory program that she founded. She has performed as a soloist, collaborative pianist, lecture-recitalist and master class teacher in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

’71 William Weber (LS) has joined the materials science and engineering department at the University of Tennessee. He serves as the governor’s chair professor for radiation effects in materials. He works to increase joint fundamental and applied research efforts at the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory in this field as well as ion-solid interactions and defects in ceramics.

’78 Debra (Rohan) Sobottke (LS), a pilot crew scheduler for United Airlines, enjoys traveling the world with her husband of 21 years.

’87 Timothy Rinn (LS) is the owner of Special Forces Building and Grounds, LLC, a property management company in Green Bay.

’90 John Krause (B) has become market leader at Baker Tilly, in addition to his title of partner. While continuing to serve his clients, he will have the additional responsibility of driving new business development activities, including events, sponsorships, participation in professional membership organizations and community involvement. He also will expand new business development efforts and community interaction in northern Wisconsin.

’93 Angela Lipschutz (N) has joined Theda Clark Medical Center, Women’s Health Specialists as a nurse practitioner. She also has earned a master’s degree from the University of California, San Francisco.

’94 Vicki (Hoeft) Zimmermann (N) received a master of science in nursing degree from Edgewood College in Madison. She serves as an outreach specialist and nurse planner at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing and a charge nurse at Columbus Hospital in Columbus, Wis.

’96 Randy Radtke (LS) was promoted to associate brand manager at Alliance Laundry Systems in Ripon.

’97 Gretchen (Weidemann) Steinbecker (B) is the web marketing communications coordinator for The Manitowoc Company’s food service division.

’99 Susan Hurlbut (MSN) is a family nurse practitioner at Aurora Medical in Oshkosh.

’01 Marie (Martin) Flanagan (LS) and’09 (MPA) is senior editor for North Central Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE), a program that supports and promotes sustainable farming and ranching. She also is the sustainable food correspondent for Minnesota Monthly, a magazine dedicated to exploring the life and culture of the Twin Cities and the state of Minnesota. Her first print piece should appear in the magazine’s June issue.

’01 Christopher Meyer (LS) has moved into a new role at Air Wisconsin as a scheduling and planning analyst. He will assume aircraft and scheduling duties, create and implement aircraft marketing schedules and play a large role in developing analytics for improved planning and scheduling.

’03 Karen Harkness (MPA), the community development director for the city of Appleton, develops new relationships with outside investors, strengthens relationships among other investors and seeks new resources, such as grants for alternate energy funding. She has held this position since December 2008.

’04 Susan VanEngen (EHS) will sign copies of her first children’s book, “The 100th Day Surprise,” at Waldenbooks in Fond du Lac on July 17.

’05 Jennifer (Greely) Sailer
(LS), a child protection services social worker for Outagamie County in Appleton, was married in August 2009. She and her husband are building their first home.

’06 Susan Murvich
(N) took a 10-day medical mission trip to Bogota, Columbia, with other volunteers from Arkansas, Michigan and Wisconsin.

’07 Megan Goerlinger
(LS) is an assistant athletic trainer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

’07 Ashley (Bloemer) Large
(LS), an account manager for Direct Supply in Milwaukee, recently opened Ashley’s Confectionery with her husband in Cedarburg.

’07 Jared Pelski
(B) is senior adviser of sales and marketing at Pantheon Business Council in Cudahy.

’08 Matthew Byczek (N) recently became the charge nurse for night shifts at the emergency room at Meriter Hospital in Madison.

’09 Tiffany Gerrits (N), a registered nurse in the Medical ICU at St. Joseph’s Hospital, will begin a master’s degree in nursing education in June.

’09 George Hunt (LS) has completed basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks, he studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values.
