University of Wisconsin Oshkosh senior Erik Cole will premiere his short film Transformed 5:17 on Tuesday, April 30 at the Time Community Theater in downtown Oshkosh.  Cole is a double major in radio-TV-film and Spanish who will graduate in May.

“The film explores how a personal relationship with God can not only transform a heart and make it new, but also resurrect a new life,” said Cole.  He chose to produce this film to fulfill his duties as an evangelical Christian and put into practice the media skills he received while at UW Oshkosh.

Cole, a native of Denmark, Wisc., says the film is partially autobiographical and talks about his own journey in faith.  He also includes on-camera testimonies from others that have experienced Christ in their personal lives.

Cole says his plan is to create multiple documentaries in Mexico City describing how God is moving through one of the world’s largest cities.  Eventually, he plans to produce similar films in other regions with Latin American Missions, a Miami-based ministry working throughout Central and South America.

Cole is grateful to the staff at the theater for partnering with him and agreeing to host the debut.

The documentary Transformed 5:17 will debut at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at the Time Community Theater, 445 North Main Street in Oshkosh.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
