University of Wisconsin Oshkosh student Zach Dunton, who leads up an organization called Ordinary Heroes, is putting together a fundraiser for those affected by the recent Boston Marathon tragedy.

Ordinary Heroes strives to give ordinary people the means to be extraordinary in times of need. In the past, Ordinary Heroes has had success fundraising thousands of dollars for the victims of the Aurora, CO and Oak Creek, WI shootings, Dunton said.

Dunton said he is hopeful to this time provide great support to those in Boston through both selling T-shirts and asking for donations via Paypal using the email address ordinaryheroesfund@gmail.com.

“Any support we can get would be excellent, especially from students and alumni of UWO,” said Dunton, who is a member of the Oshkosh Student Association on campus.

On its Facebook page, Ordinary Heroes has more than 600 likes; the organization is also active on Twitter at @_OrdinaryHeroes. The #HeroesForBoston hashtag is being used on both Twitter and Instagram; posting enouraging words and photos is encouraged, Dunton said.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
