The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh has selected Kim Donat as the new director of financial aid.

Donat has more than 18 years experience working with both two- and four-year public institutions throughout the Midwest. He has also served as president of the Michigan Student Financial Aid Association and has held several other leadership roles within financial aid associations. He comes to UW Oshkosh from Heartland Community College where he was also the financial aid director.

Donat has a master’s degree in education from Iowa State University and a bachelor’s degree in humanities from Northwestern College.

“The financial aid office staff is excited to welcome Kim to our team. Kim’s vast experience in higher education will serve UWO staff and students well,” said Meghann Krueger, associate director of financial aid. “I feel he will provide strong leadership and vision for our office.”

In order to have a cohesive financial aid unit, Donat believes strong leadership and supervisory skills are necessary.

“I work effectively with a diverse staff to challenge and inspire them to greater levels of service in our profession,” Donat wrote in his application to UW Oshkosh. “In my leadership style, I demonstrate compassion, flexibility and adaptability while working to achieve departmental goals.”

At UW Oshkosh, the financial aid office works with students and families to administer a variety of financial aid funding services from federal, state and private sources. Donat will serve as the leader of the financial aid office and staff; he’ll also oversee compliance and outreach. On campus, the financial aid office works closely with admissions, student accounts, financial services and the registrar and Dean of Students offices.

Donat begins his role at UW Oshkosh in mid-May.
