College students from across the state will participate in a free, five-day seminar to learn more about the insurance profession at various venues in the Fox Valley, including the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
The University’s College of Business will participate in THINK INSURANCE, which offers information about career paths as well as networking opportunities, April 22 to 26.
Students will arrive on campus Saturday afternoon for a networking lunch held at Gruenhagen Conference Center, followed by a tour of campus given by College of Business faculty member Scott Beyer.
UW Oshkosh’s College of Business offers a minor and emphasis in insurance and risk management. The program prepares students to become certified in the insurance field.
“Several of our students will complete a portion of the CPCU exam sequence prior to graduating,” Beyer said. “We work closely with the insurance firms throughout the state to be certain of the quality of our program.”
THINK INSURANCE also includes presentations from insurance and risk management professionals, site visits to Society Insurance in Fond du Lac and Secura Insurance in Appleton, and several networking events throughout the region. The seminar is sponsored by the Wisconsin Foundation for Independent Colleges (WFIC).
By 2011, the insurance industry will add more than 11,000 new jobs for motivated and hard-working individuals. In response, WIFC created THINK INSURANCE, a unique program that shows students what the insurance industry has to offer college students and recent graduates.
