March Madness will descend on the city of Oshkosh as nearly 1,000 Special Olympics athletes shoot hoops on the basketball court and twirl ribbons on the gymnasium floor at the 34th annual Special Olympics State Indoor Sports tournament held on Saturday, April 10, and Sunday, April 11, at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

A special feature of the state tournament includes the Team Wisconsin basketball team, which will represent the state at the 2010 U.S.A. National Games in Nebraska this summer. The team will kick off the tournament with a basketball scrimmage against a team of coaches from across the state at the Kolf Sports Center at 7 p.m. Friday, April 9. The public is invited to this game that will include trivia contests between quarters.

Basketball teams will face off at the Kolf Sports Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 10 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 11. Athletes also will show off their basketball skills at the Albee Gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. while gymnasts leap into action at the Kolf Sports Center with performances from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 10.

Closing Ceremonies are set for 7 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Kolf Sports Center and will include a dance competition and victory party. Spectators are encouraged to cheer the athletes on at this family-oriented, free event.
