Lace up those shoes and get ready for the 6th annual Shamrock Shuffle on the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh campus.

The Shamrock Shuffle, which is hosted annually by the UW Oshkosh Student Recreation and Wellness Center, will be held this year on March 9. The 5K run/walk will help raise funds for the Boys and Girls Club of Oshkosh and Multicultural Initiatives at UW Oshkosh.

The race begins at 10 a.m. on March 9. Registration begins at 9 a.m., however, advanced registration is strongly recommended. The race will start and end at the UW Oshkosh Student Recreation and Wellness Center, 735 Pearl Ave.

Event coordinator Kelly Beisenstein-Weiss is excited about this year’s event. She said last year’s Shuffle brought in nearly 1,500 participants.

The Shamrock Shuffle was started in Oshkosh as a way to unite UW Oshkosh college students with the surrounding community.

“It’s a great wellness event for both the community and the UW Oshkosh campus,” says Mike Koss, a Student Recreation student employee at UWO.  “The energy is high and we have a great time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in a healthy way.  Everyone has a blast!”

The cost to participate in the event is $15, which includes a t-shirt. By participating on a team of six or more for $20, participants receive a long-sleeve t-shirt with their team name on the back and festive Shamrock Shuffle goodies. Individuals can also enter as a “charity participant” for $10 (no t-shirt included). Early registration is due March 5. Day of registration for individuals (9 a.m.) will also be available for $20.

Team registration is due by Feb. 27. This year, the UW Oshkosh Alumni Association is coordinating a team–the Titan Trotters. To be a part of the team, indicate at the time of registration.
