The Association of College Unions International (ACUI) recently recognized the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s Reeve Memorial Union with four Graphics Competition awards at its Region Eight Conference.

Two Reeve Memorial Union student graphic artists, Jason Kobishop and William Kaul, submitted entries and were awarded two first- and second-place finishes in the regional competition.

Kobishop, a UW Oshkosh senior marketing major, won first-place awards in the logo and multimedia design categories along with a second-place finish in multimedia design. Kobishop’s winning submissions included multimedia videos for Homecoming 2009: Titan Xtreme Games and a campus-wide Fair Trade campaign as well as a logo for the University’s late-night busing system, Titan Transit.

The additional award presented to Reeve Memorial Union during the conference was for a second-place design for a three-or-more-color poster that was created by UW Oshkosh student William Kaul, who is senior graphic arts major. Kaul’s design for a University Speaker Series Pornography Debate used controversial imagery to catch the attention of viewers, which landed the piece a second-place finish.

Kaul and Kobishop have worked for Reeve Memorial Union’s marketing department, developing design industry skills, for two and three years, respectively.

The ACUI Region Eight Conference brought together 33 college unions to participate in activities, including the graphics competition, from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Chicago metropolitan area and Wisconsin.
