Students in the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s radio/TV/film program were recognized in two recent broadcasting contests.
Daniel VanDenEng was named “Best DJ” for “Country 101” in the combined television and radio categories of the National Student Production Awards at the National College Media Convention Oct. 30. The program airs on WRST-FM, the University’s student radio station.
WRST also was honored at the 2009 National Broadcasting Society’s regional convention Oct. 23 and 24. Aaron Vaughn took first place in the Midwest competition for the radio promo of the “Victor Vaughn Show.”
VanDenEng received honorable mention for station imagining for “43 years ID” and radio promo for “Country 101.” VanDenEng and Vaughn also got an honorable mention for a news segment that included an interview with UW Oshkosh associate professor of sociology Gerry Grzyb on election night.
