The fifth-annual Provost’s Teaching and Learning Summit, slated for Oct. 26-30, will focus on transformative teaching. The week-long event features a variety of innovative and integrated teaching and learning practices that will be demonstrated and discussed by educators from campus and across the nation.

“Student learning is the central mission of UW Oshkosh,” said Lori Carrell, director of UW Oshkosh’s Center for Scholarly Teaching. “These programs creatively address the challenges facing those who provide higher education so that they may continue to grow.

“Any growth in professors’ passion and skill in the classroom translates into a better educated citizenry. Our professors are committing extra time during this Summit week — above and beyond their regularly scheduled responsibilities of research, service and teaching — to fuel their passion for student learning.”

The week-long event will include a variety of faculty development programs, including workshops on high-impact teaching experiences and panel discussions on engaging students.

Students and faculty are invited to share their stories of transformative teaching and learning during the “Lights on Learning” presentation from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, in Reeve Union. The stories will be videotaped and will be used to create a digital showcase demonstrating transformative teaching at UW Oshkosh.
