University of Wisconsin Oshkosh graduate Leah Lechleiter-Luke ’92, has been named Wisconsin’s 2009-2010 high school teacher of the year.

She is among five teachers across the state to receive top teaching honors and $3,000 from the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation.

Lechleiter-Luke teaches Spanish to Mauston High School students. She likens her educational approache, both in classes and in extracurricular activities, to leading students to the cliff-like edges of their comfort zones, then pushing them off and watching them discover the ability to fly. She is described as a passionate and determined mentor for students at all levels of achievement.
