Carol Kozlowski, a university conference coordinator for Gruenhagen Conference Center and Residence Life, has been named the recipient of the STAR Award for October 2009. She has served the University since 2000.

Gruenhagen Conference Center Director Marc Nylen nominated her. His nomination letter follows:

“Gruenhagen Conference Center just finished hosting the Diamond Way Buddhist “Great Seal Course,” which brought 225 followers of the Buddhist faith (Karma Kagyu Lineage) to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh campus for the second consecutive year, this year from Nov. 26-30, 2008. The “Great Seal Course” brings together followers of the Buddhist faith who study under the direction of Lama Ole Nydahl from Copenhagen, Denmark. Lama Ole led last year’s phowa (course), and was here to lead this year’s course as well.

“Carol Kozlowski was directly responsible for the recruitment of this group to the UW Oshkosh campus two years ago. Previously, the Diamond Way Buddhist Conference was held in Lake Geneva for nine consecutive years.

“Carol’s oversight, planning and coordination of this distinguished group for the past two years evidences her superb skill set, willingness to demonstrate and provide high quality customer service and satisfaction, and her commitment to connecting the broad community to the excellent resources that UW Oshkosh has to offer.

“The Diamond Way Buddhists’ “Great Seal Course” welcomed the 225 participants to lodge in Gruenhagen Conference Center, studied under the direction of Lama Ole Nydahl in the Reeve Memorial Union Ballroom and dined in Blackhawk Commons. Participant and Diamond Way coordinator feedback regarding our hosting this event received the highest praise, which speaks to the grea work of Carol Kozlowski. Attendees of this course travel from many parts of the United States and from outside of the United States as well (Mexico, European nations, Canada, etc.).

“The event was a great success due the diligence and total commitment of Carol Kozlowski, who served as a true steward and ambassador on behalf of UW Oshkosh.

“In tending to the distinct and unique needs of the Dimaond Way Buddhist group, Carol remained on site here in Gruenhagen Conference Center for the entire “Great Seal Course” of five days. She was completely available and responsive to the needs of this group and oversaw a very successful major event.

“Carol demonstrated a commitment level, dedication, professionalism and sense of customer satisfaction that make UW Oshkosh a proud host of this distinguished event.”
