Bruce Noebel, a network cable technician for Information Technologies, has been named the recipient of the STAR Award for September 2009. He has served the University since 1989. University Print Manager Brian Klinger nominated Noebel. The nomination letter follows:

“Bruce is a team leader and significantly contributed for the new cable television contract at UW Oshkosh. His knowledge, experience and insight have ensured the University received a technological advanced system at a low cost to the University.

“Bruce enthusiastically volunteered to lend his technical support for the creation of a new cable television contract that, by the vendors account, will be the most technologically advanced among UW campuses and even the Midwest. Bruce’s intimate knowledge was instrumental in how the new cable delivery system will be delivered by the fiber optic infrastructure recently installed on campus.

“Bruce made certain the specifications for the Request for Bid (RFB) document was detailed so vendors knew exactly what to bid on and the high expectations the University had for the contract. In addition, Bruce coordinated a site tour for the vendors and was the content expert throughout the procurement process. Over the  summer months Bruce will supervise and coordinate the new cable television upgrade on campus. Bruce’s extended efforts over and above his position expectations has ensured the University received the most technological system at a low cost, which will last for many years to come.

“Bruce has and continues to excel in all areas, taking on new challenges — an unsung hero and true asset to UW Oshkosh. All done with a smile on his face.”

Winners of the STAR Award receive a framed certificate, a reserved parking space for one month and a gift from University Books & More. The award for exceptional performance is presented each month to a member of the classified staff who has worked at least six months at UW Oshkosh.
