Dana Hartel, Parking Services Office operations associate, has been named recipient of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh September 2012 STAR Award.

Hartel was nominated by Joe Blohm. Portions of her nomination submission follow:

“The Parking Services Office operates with only two full -time staff members and several part-time students. On June 30, 2011 Nancy Bielak, Parking Services Manager, retired after many valuable years of service to UW Oshkosh. Nancy’s well-deserved retirement left Dana Hartel as the only experienced staff member in the Parking Services Office.

“In a relatively short period of time, Dana had to learn Nancy’s job duties, assume most of them AND train a Limited Term Employee to do her job. To make things even more complicated and stressful, Parking Services began implementing a completely new Parking Management System on Aug. 1, 2011. It was necessary to convert data from the old system, revamp old procedures, learn new ones and put up with all the frustrations that come with any new computer system. Dana was the team leader in this project and it went as smoothly as any implentation could possibly go. That was largely due to Dana’s hard work, dedication, intelligence and persistence.

“The Star Award would be small, but very much deserved recognition for Dana’s contributions to Parking Services and UW Oshkosh.”

The CSAC Awards & Recognition Committee submitted this announcement. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
