Research grants program manager Dawn Abraham, of Oshkosh, and payroll and benefits specialist Jody Anthony, of North Prairie, each received a Sally Margis Classified Staff Professional Development Award June 5 during the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s Classified Staff Appreciation Day.

Abraham will use the scholarship money to purchase Adobe Photoshop and take a class on how to use the software. Anthony will use the award money toward earning her master’s degree in psychology.

Annette Blanchette ’60, established the Sally Margis Award to provide professional development opportunities for classified staff at UW Oshkosh.

“We all have dreams. One of mine is provide resources that will enable people to work towards realizing their own dreams,” said Blanchette, a retired UW-River Falls classified staff member.  “I love watching people grow and fulfill their potential. That’s what the Sally Margis Fund is all about.”

Blanchette named the award after Margis, who served UWO in many capacities as a member of the classified staff, including working in the Graduate School Office and College of Business and as a clerical assistant in the geology department.
