For his leadership and commitment to athletics at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Sports Information Director Kennan Timm was selected as the 2009 recipient of the College Sports Information Directors of America’s (CoSIDA) Warren Berg Award.

“Kennan has been an outstanding leader in our profession, and we are blessed by his long-term commitment to our profession and its people,” said John Humenik, executive director of CoSIDA.

The award is presented annually to a CoSIDA college-division member who has made outstanding contributions to the field of sports information and who, by his or her activities, has brought dignity and prestige to the profession.

“Kennan truly believes in black and gold because he does such a fine job of promoting UW Oshkosh athletics,” said Al Ackerman, athletics director at UW Oshkosh. “He is considered one of the best NCAA Division III sports information directors in the U.S.”

Ackerman said Timm was involved in the various national championships UW Oshkosh has hosted and that he has made major contributions to the department’s fundraising efforts, bringing in more than $200,000.

“Kennan is a leader based on how he performs,” Ackerman said. “He is very much a professional in making sure our program receives its due recognition.”

Timm will accept the award June 24 at the CoSIDA annual convention in San Antonio.
