The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s Office of International Education (OIE) has two exchange students from Siebold University of Nagasaki, Japan coming to UW Oshkosh during the 2012 -2013 academic year to study abroad.
Two area families are needed to host visiting students, Ms. Shiori Yamaguchi and Ms. Tomomi Taguchi, for a 12-day home stay from August 14 – 26 while they attend a college preparation course on campus prior to beginning their studies for the fall semester.
Families will begin by completing a host family application to be approved for participation. Following approval, families will receive information about hosting responsibilities as well as more detailed information about the student’s college preparation course.
The home stay provides the host family an opportunity to learn more about another culture and experiences while sharing American culture and experiences at the same time. The home stay is useful for the students as it begins to give them an idea of what life here in the United States is like.
If you and your family are interested in hosting a Japanese student or if you have questions, contact Mickey Goggin, program coordinator for incoming guest programs, at (920) 424-0775 or gogginm@uwosh.edu.
Mickey Goggin, Office of International Education, submitted this announcement. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
