Sarah Polzin, a center aid with UW Oshkosh Head Start, has been named recipient of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh May 2012 STAR Award.

Polzin was nominated by Janet Thorn, early childhood manager for UW Oshkosh Head Start. Portions of her nomination submission follow:

“Sarah is a very dedicated, positive and hard working employee. She never complains and always has encouraging words for her coworkers,” Thorn stated. ”

“Sarah comes to our center each day in a positive mood. She is willing to help out were ever she is needed. She works in a classroom that has a child with an IEP (individualized education program), and many times she is the one that can get the child to refocus and calm down. She uses her artistic talents to brighten up the center by putting up students art work. Even though Sarah is a single mom with three boys at home, she is more than willing to help at our evening events for the families in our program. Sarah truly is a team player, she never hesitates to see where help is needed and she always is willing to do whatever is needed to be done. Sarah is a bright star at our center, and she deserves to be recognized.”

The CSAC Awards & Recognition Committee submitted this announcement. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
