Three University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Business alumni and emeritus faculty will be honored by the College of Business Alumni Association for their outstanding contributions to the community during a dinner Feb. 21 at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton, Wis.

Honorees include Thomas Guyette (BBA ‘68), first vice president of investments for Merrill Lynch in Green Bay; Gordon Meicher (BBA ’74), managing partner of Meicher and Associates in Madison; and Dr. Marilyn Hart, operations management emeritus professor.

“These honorees excel in their respective professions and they are strong supporters of community projects. The outstanding alumni are at the pinnacles of their careers and the outstanding faculty member has proven success as an educator, researcher and advisor to students,” said Craig Meyer, a College of Business Alumni Association member and owner of Watertax Inc in Appleton.

Thomas Guyette has served as a financial adviser, manager and partner with Merrill Lynch for 34 years. He managed the Merrill Lynch office in Green Bay for nearly 20 years, and grew the office to 25 individuals while fostering a culture of excellence and integrity. Guyette, with his son, Brannon, have been partners in the Guyette Financial Group for nine years. Besides his passion for business, Guyette is also driven by a desire to volunteer his time and talents to his community. He has served as president to the Neville Public Museum, and treasurer of both the Notre Dame Academy Board of Education and the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce. He has been a member and past president of the Downtown Rotary Club of Green Bay. He serves on the finance committee of Old St. Joseph’s Church in De Pere. He received the Merrill Lynch Lifetime Community Achievement Award in 2002. The past several years, Guyette has served as Chairman to the local Merrill Lynch Grand Gala which has raised over $600,000 the past six years for various charities and organizations within the Green Bay community.

After nine years of progressive experience as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Gordon Meicher founded Meicher and Associates, a full service accounting and consulting firm, in 1981. Located in Madison, Meicher and Associates employs 35 people and serves over 4,500 clients. During his time at UW Oshkosh, Meicher received the outstanding senior award from the College and became a member of Beta Gamma Sigma honors society. Meicher is an advanced tax instructor for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and was recognized as one of the top five instructors in the nation. In 1987, Meicher received the Wisconsin Small Business Accountant of the Year award. He has been active in his community, serving as the Easter Seals Society of Wisconsin fundraising director, member of the Edgewood High School campaign board and InBusiness Magazine executive review board.

Marilyn Hart joined the UW Oshkosh College of Business in 1985 and retired in 2007. Hart received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Illinois and her second Master of Science degree and her Ph.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology. An accomplished author, her most recent book, Statistical Process Control for Health Care, was published and translated into Chinese in 2007. Robert Hart, her husband, who also retired from the College, is the book’s co-author. The Harts have presented more than 30 seminars in healthcare and more than 300 in industry. They have also published articles with the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations on how to analyze healthcare data.
