Dan Petersen, academic computing, has been named recipient of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh January 2012 STAR Award.

Petersen was nominated by Dan Hoyt. Portions of his nomination submission follow:

“Dan is one of the smartest guys I know. He’s an out-of-the-box thinker that always presents solutions to problems from an angle that hadn’t previously been considered. He does his job and whenever one of us has a problem he’s right there to assist and resolve whatever the problem may be.

“For more than a year now, Dan has been doing double-duty, completing his own job assignments as well as filling in as our email admin while the search for a  replacement now enters its second round. He continues to do the work that needs to be done, day in and day out, to make sure that the needs of the campus community are met.

“Since the work he does is always done in the “shadow” of Dempsey 307 not many people on campus even know his name. But if it weren’t for Dan filling in and keeping things running everyone on campus would know we are short a staff member.

“Dan deserves the thanks and accolades of the campus community for doing two jobs with only one rate of pay and for ensuring that email continues to flow while we continue to search for a new email administrator.”

The CSAC Awards & Recognition Committee submitted this announcement. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
