University of Wisconsin Oshkosh faculty and staff go to extraordinary lengths to educate, support and otherwise prepare students.

To recognize such accomplishments, individuals are invited to nominate colleagues — or in some cases, self-nominate — for the following awards:

Distinguished Teaching Award

The purpose of the Distinguished Teaching Award is to emphasize the University’s commitment to teaching excellence.

• Who is eligible:
  Current full-time faculty who are in at least their fourth year of service at UW Oshkosh, have taught an average of at least six credits per year over the past three years and are teaching during the current year.

• How to apply:
  Those interested must submit the following:

1.   A curriculum vitae,
2. Five-page (maximum) narrative addressing the following evidence: teaching summary, teaching excellence, professional and scholarly growth (faculty only), and institutional and extra-institutional service (faculty only),
3. Required S.O.S. reports,
4. Three letters of recommendation,
5. Nomination from a faculty unit (department, college, etc.), Oshkosh Student Association or the Oshkosh Alumni Association.

• Deadline:
  Submit items by 4 p.m. Feb. 16, 2009, to the Provost and Vice Chancellor’s Office, Dempsey 335.

• Selection:
  One to three faculty members and one to three instructional academic staff members may be selected each year. Selection recommendations will be made by the committee no later than March 15, 2009. The provost and chancellor will select the winners and present the awards at the Opening Day assembly in the fall.

John McNaughton Rosebush University Professorship

The John McNaughton Rosebush University Professorship is one of the University’s most coveted awards and is granted for excellence in teaching, professional achievement and public service. The professorships serve to reinforce the connection between teaching and research.

• Who is eligible:
  All members of the campus community, including faculty, staff and students, are encouraged to nominate teaching faculty. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

• How to apply:
  Those interested should submit the following:

1. A curriculum vitae,
2. A one-page summary (written by the nominator) on each of the following: teaching, professional achievement and public service.

• Deadline:
  Submit the above items by Thursday Feb. 5, 2009, to the Provost and Vice Chancellor’s Office, Dempsey 335

• Selection:
  The selection committee will request further evidence from the nominees who most closely meet the award criteria. This evidence will be due to the committee by March 2, 2009. The chancellor will make a final decision in the spring after receiving recommendations from the selection committee.

Regents Award for Excellence

The Academic Staff Regents Award for Excellence is a UW System-wide award that recognizes two non-instructional academic staff members who provide essential services to the University while demonstrating excellence in performance, personal interaction, initiative and creativity.

• Who is eligible?
  Current UW System non-instructional academic staff members with a fixed term, limited and/or rolling horizon, or indefinite appointments; are .50 FTE or greater; and have been members of the academic staff for a minimum of 12 months.

• How to apply:
  To nominate an individual, submit a brief e-mail to Lynn Mozingo (mozingol@uwosh.edu) in the College of Business by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, describing how each candidate shows the above qualities.
